The crown chakra is the seventh and last chakra in the human body’s chakra system. It is called Sahasrara in Sanskrit and is associated with higher knowledge. As such, it is associated with the ultimate metaphysical aspect of our reality. The crown chakra is located at or above the crown of your head. It is the only chakra that can exist slightly outside of your body. Just like the third eye chakra, the crown chakra has been steeped in mystery.

What It Governs
When it comes to the physical body, the crown chakra governs the top of the spinal cord, brain stem, pain center, and nerves. However, it is not only limited to these parts. The crown chakra is connected to all the other chakras and as such, it is also connected to all the other organs of your body as well. So, a blocked crown chakra can manifest in any physical ailment.
This chakra also governs your awareness, intelligence, wisdom, and life’s purpose. So, if your crown chakra is blocked, you may be ignorant, a know it all, disconnected from reality, narrow-minded, skeptical, stubborn, or clueless about your purpose.
Characteristics of The Crown Chakra
This chakra is usually symbolized with the color violet or white that represents peace, tranquility, wisdom, power, union, and transcendence. It is often depicted by a lotus flower with a thousand petals. The mantra that is linked to this chakra is “I understand.”
The crown chakra is also believed to be the gateway to enlightenment. Those who are able to activate it experience something that words can express. They achieve a state of being that is not bound by the laws of physical nature. They truly become liberated from this existence.
This chakra completes a person’s spiritual journey from the basic needs of survival to the ultimate realization and transcendence. It is amazing how the energy centers in the body are designed in a way that showcases the spiritual journey one must take.
